Americas Gold and Silver Posts Record Q3 Silver Output but Misses Estimates, Leaving a Big Fourth Quarter Task

Americas Gold and Silver posted a record third-quarter silver output of 800,458 ounces, but the number still landed below the roughly 950,000 ounces analysts had pencilled in. The company reaffirmed its 2026 guidance of 3.2 to 3.6 million ounces, which now puts the spotlight on a much stronger fourth quarter. For investors watching the silver sector, it is a useful snapshot of how mid-tier producers are handling operational bumps in a high-price environment.

What the quarter showed

Cosalá in Mexico produced 415,879 ounces, up 23% on the June quarter, as mining moved into the higher-grade EC120 orebody. Galena in Idaho added 384,579 ounces while still recovering from interruptions earlier in the year. The miner also sold a record 860,850 ounces at an average realised price of US$60.54 per ounce, so sales ran ahead of production. Lead, copper and antimony by-products continued to add to revenue.

The fourth-quarter test

Nine-month production sits at about 2.3 million ounces. Hitting even the bottom of guidance means roughly 900,000 ounces in the December quarter, and analysts estimate the midpoint needs closer to 1.1 million. Cash also fell to US$63 million from US$129.8 million at the end of 2025 as Galena infrastructure spending continued, although liquidity of US$113 million includes an undrawn US$50 million facility and management says spending is on budget.

What it means for ASX silver investors

Operational delivery is clearly as important as the metal price. Strong realised prices help, but the miss against expectations shows how quickly sentiment can turn when ramp-ups slip. It follows a disruption at Mexico’s San Dimas mine, where a strike has halted output. Supply hiccups like these matter because of the wider market picture, covered in our look at the 2026 silver deficit, and in the supply and demand data published by The Silver Institute. ASX-listed developers and explorers will be judged on the same test of timelines and costs once they move toward production.
